The Police Patrol and traffic department were alerted to a serious traffic accident that had taken place early Saturday February 22nd around 03.00 am, next to K.F.C Welfare Road, whereby a rider of a T-Max motorbike was badly injured.

On the scene the patrol encountered the rider the T-max motorbike with the initials K.R. who was complaining of pain in his back and head.

According to the information, the driver of a gray Hyundai Accent with the number P-2428, came from the side street next to KFC and drove onto the Welfare road in the direction of the Roundabout.

At the same time the rider of the T-max was also driving on the Welfare road towards Kruythoff roundabout.

For reasons still unknown, the driver of the Hyundai accent, decided to turn left and tried to enter the parking lot of KFC.

The rider of the T-max was unable to brake in time and crashed into the car. The rider of the bike was treated at the scene by the personnel of the ambulance and later transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center(SMMC) for further treatment.

The wounds of the victim were not life threatening. The investigation is still ongoing by the traffic department.
