How does a report to the police work?
• The police make a written statement and ask you to sign it.
• Check whether everything is correct and whether the declaration is complete.
• Do you remember anything about the scams later? Then you can still report this.
• You receive a copy of the declaration. Keep this well.
• You need this for insurance.
Why is it important to make a declaration?
• The police can then try to trace the suspect.
• Your declaration may ensure that others do not fall victim to a fraud.
• If you make a declaration, you can get the damage reimbursed by your insurance.
• Or you can try to recover the damage from the suspect that scammed you.
• Declaration can give you a sense of justification.
