Sint Maarten has been a fully fledged member state of Interpol since 2011. Interpol has 194 member states, divided in regions and zones. Interpol Sint Maarten is part of the America’s region in zone 8.

NCB Philipsburg

The office of Interpol Sint Maarten is called the National Central Bureau Philipsburg (NCB Philipsburg). NCB Philipsburg is part of the Sint Maarten Police Force and located in a separate office area in Philipsburg close to the Police Head Quarters. NCB Philipsburg is headed by the Chief of Police of Sint Maarten. The operational tasks of the NCB are currently executed by the Information Unit of the Sint Maarten Police Force.  

NCB Philipsburg has a number of tasks and responsibilities: 

  • 24/7 service to handle international information requests concerning criminal investigations by other Interpol member states
  • 24/7 service to request information from other Interpol member states concerning Sint Maarten criminal investigations that are run by local law enforcement agencies
  • to issue and handle Interpol notices. The most relevant notices to be mentioned are: Red notices (international arrest warrants) and Yellow notices (missing persons). 
  • to provide E-learning modules to Sint Maarten law enforcement officers
  • to participate in conferences and training modules in specific investigation techniques
  • to develop and implement relevant Interpol tools that contribute to the safety of Sint Maarten
  • to participate in strategic processes concerning Sint Maarten and global security.
